For the first time in all these years we have been praying to her for our Latin Mass Community, St. Therese is now our patroness officially, by the decree of the Bishop of Pittsburgh. Also for the first time, we will be able to have an entire novena of nine days in here honor, running Sunday, September 25th through Monday, October 3rd, the feast of the Little Flower. Novena prayers will be recited after every Mass. Our customary Triduum in her honor will be on Saturday, October 1st with a High Mass at 9 AM, Sunday October 2nd with a High Mass at 11 AM, and Monday, October 3rd with a High Mass and Procession at 7 PM. Confessions will be heard one half hour prior to all the triduum Masses. Please make sure to make plans for the novena now in order to offer thanks for St. Therese’s intercession in obtaining daily Mass and canonical status for the Latin Mass Community. Make sure you invite your friends and relatives to attend!
OF THE CHILD JESUS AND THE HOLY FACE
O ETERNAL FATHER, Who are in Heaven, where Thou dost crown the merits of
those who serve Thee faithfully in this life, for the sake of the most pure love Thy
little daughter St. Therese had for Thee, so as all but to bind Thee to give her
whatever she desires, seeing that while on earth she always did Thy will, incline Thy
ear to the petitions she offers on our behalf and hear too our prayers by granting the
graces we ask.
O ETERNAL SON OF GOD, Thou who has promised to reward the least service rendered to Thee in the person of our neighbor, cast a glance of love on Thy spouse, St. Therese, who with such great zeal had ever at heart the salvation of souls, and for the sake of all she had done and suffered, lend a willing ear to her wish of “spending her time in heaven doing good upon earth,” and grant us the graces we plead for so earnestly.
O ETERNAL HOLY SPIRIT, Who didst with so many graces make perfect the soul of St. Therese, we beseech Thee for the sake of the fidelity she showed in corresponding to Thy grace, to hear the prayers she offers up on our behalf and having before Thee her promise of “letting fall from heaven a shower of roses”, mercifully grant us the graces of which we stand in need.
O great Saint, “little Therese”, who in thy short life on earth became a mirror of angelic purity, of love as strong as death, and of whole-hearted abandonment to God, now that thou rejoices in the reward of thy virtues, cast a glance of pity on us as we leave all our troubles in thy hands. Make our troubles thine own, speak a word for us to Our Lady Immaculate, whose ‘flower’ thou was, to that Queen of heaven “who smiled at thee from the dawn of life”, beg her, as Queen of the Heart of Jesus, to obtain for us by her intercession the graces we yearn for so ardently at this moment and that she may join with it a blessing that may strengthen us during life, defend us a the hour of death and lead us straight to a happy eternity. Amen
St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, Pray for us!
